Whenever I’m having a bit of a dull day I stare skywards and think to myself “I wonder what Beth Ditto is doing” and conjur up all sorts of punk rock style shit in my head.

Then I saw that programme where Fearne Cotton hung around with her for a few weeks and, well, her life is rather normal and lacking in my crazy imagined excess. Hey ho, at least she’s not an egotistical arse and no matter how many times I listen to it, “Music For Men” never loses its magic. This tune in particular.

Ditto also released a brilliant solo EP this year (produced by Simian Mobile Disco) that included this belter.

And while we’re on that tip, the brilliant “Cruel Intentions” was one of the best tracks on SMD’s “Temporary Pleasure”.

So the next time I stare skyward I’ll be imagining Beth Ditto rollerblading around Portland, drinking tequila from the bottle whilst hook-laden classics pop into her head constantly. Reality used to be a friend of mine.
